Family Medicine in Pakistan

2019 Dr Zafar Mirza, Ex-Minister of National Health Services Regulations and Coordination Government of Pakistan, held a meeting with Dr. Yousuf Ahmad and Dr Majid Gondal, Visiting delegates from AAPP. Minister was briefed regarding efforts to support Family Medicine in Pakistan and recent collaboration between College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan and Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. The Minister was keen for strategic engagement of Overseas Pakistani Family Physicians Diaspora. The Minister provided his well-informed vision and strategy for strengthening family medicine and primary health care in Pakistan.(Dec 2019)

Enhancing cooperation with Australia in the field of Nursing

AAPP Team has been actively engaged to enhance prospects for Pakistani nurses in Australia as well as strengthening nursing sector in Pakistan. In July 2020, AAPP team made presentation to Pakistan High Commission in Australia, Dr. Malik Mohammad Safi, Director General National Health Services, Mr. Zahoor Ahmad, Additional Secretary Asia Pacific Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Madam Afshan Nazly, President Pakistan Nursing Council, Ms. Fouzia Mushtaq, Registrar Pakistan Nursing Council, Dr. Raisa Begum Gul, National Task Force for Nursing, Professor. Rafat Jan, Agha Khan Nursing College, Ms Surriya Shahnaz, Principal Nishtar hospital Nursing College and Mr. Kashif Noor, Director General Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment. The aim is to create institutionalized cooperation between the Health Authorities, Nursing Councils and Nursing Academic Institutions of Pakistan and Australia.
